Phone goes Polaroid

Recently while browsing through Patent Applications I came across a concept device of a Cell Phone with an integrated Printer and interactive with printed media through tags

The device itself looks as ugly as Nokia 7600

7600

Still the concept is innovative , hopefully some company like Nokia will purchase the patent and produce the device with a builtin Printer , hey when once HP printer Ink could be more and still expensive then 1985 Dom Perignon so Nokia can make more money out of the accessories .

The Pop Port reminds of Nokia

Mobile Blogging on Nokia

For those who use Blogger , mobile blogging could be a pain either they email to their blog and later claim it thus delaying their postings , some use Nokia browser for blogging but it has it’s limitations when writing long posts .

I’ve tried Skyfire but it’s loading time made me furious , finally I found the solution Opera Mini . It works like a charm when posting text based blog entries . No matter how long the blog is I have easily posted through it thus keeping my blog uptodate .

Google Mobile Maps 2.3.0.9 now with Street View

Google has recently launched a major update to their maps application Google Maps and now it even sport Street View , though it’s of not much use in my daily routine but it’s useful for a world weary traveler in North America as it covers most of the streets and even has a 360 degree view like you are standing in middle of Broadway Street .  A fun application nevertheless useful  where it’s usable .

Google Maps has not lost their previous usefulness .  They still sport live GPS movement on streets although still using atleast 5 year old Karachi Maps .

I usually use Nokia Maps but it’s nothing as compared to the bright snaps of Google Earth .  Maybe after the launch of Google Eye they will update Karachi Maps

Day in the life of a Nokia Aficionado

As you know that I’m a NokHead, a Nokia Addict , be it day or night my E71 is with me , my wife hates it , my children hates it , my whole family hates it ;) but it’s the addiction I cannot live without .

Why I’m so much into my phone , well it’s the best friend I could have .  It wakes me up in the morning at 6:30 am ,  time for my morning prayers ,  with Material.AAC ,  after prayers it’s time for a walk and who can have a better companion then Nokia Sports Tracker which monitors my distance travel and speed and I can compare it with my previous data.  While walking I also get to read the newspaper headlines  from Dawn and News Pakistan to New York Times and  Wall Street Journal and BBC Urdu via RSS thus enriching my mind .

Now the time comes for me to drop my kid at school and we are often Qikking on the way to preserve our memories.

Coming back home I go through my emails I got in the night on Nokia Email Client  and before breakfast have replies ready to go or my notes made on Active Notes .

During my drive to the office I put on BBC World Service on my car radio through Nokia Internet Radio and 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter and FM Transmitter while going through the Todo List to plan the day .

At office beside making calls , I often use it to make notes , keep list of my todo’s and also record memos through Vito Audio Notes . It also knows how to manage my calls by using Auto Profiles and during my meeting times keeps the phone on pager mode . I also use it to balance my checkbook on the go , preparing documents on Quick Office and also control the presentations on computer  through Wireless Presenter during presentations .  It can also scan business cards of people I meet on the fly and put them in contacts saving precious data entry time .

It also keeps me uptodate with my email through Nokia Email pinging as soon as the email arrives and with the full QWERTY keyboard at hand I can reply back instantly.

For my social circle it has a handy shortcut to facebook while Slick keeps me connected to my friends and colleagues on MSN ,  AOL , Yahoo and Google worldwide

After office hours when returning back home  I chill with the Hits of 80’s and 90’s from New York via Nokia Internet Radio

At home , while I wait for the dinner , I go through the evening news , check my face book , update my blog

Before sleeping if my wife is watching her soaps or some Indian movie , I can always turn on the Lonely Cat Games Smart Movie and watch the latest Hollywood Flick or simply listen to FM on Visual Radio till I sleep looking forward to spending another productive day with my Nokia
